MAT CLASSES
Mat Pilates is one of the best all body exercises you can do. Using your body weight alone or small equipment you move the whole of the body allowing the body to strengthen and lengthen the muscles and build tone.
Mat pilates is the perfect play mate to Reformer and Tower. To gain all the benefits of pilates, we encourage everyone to add Mat pilates into their regular regime.
Without apparatus to guide you, Mat Pilates connects you to the deeper foundations of your core.
Mat
Beginners & Regulars
-
A Beginners class is suitable for clients who are new to mat pilates, and regulars who want a foundation refresh or those returning to the studio after injury or surgery.
It is a slow-paced class which teaches the foundations of movement and pilates mat exercises.
Mat pilates gives you the opportunity to learn about your body in different ways, to use your body weight to build strength and utilise the small equipment that we have in the studio.
Please make sure that you let your teacher know if you are have any injuries or physical restrictions so they can adapt exercises for you.
-
Restorative classes are gentle, support and rejuvenating.
Aimed towards our clients looking for a more gentle class, returning from injury, or are new to pilates yet nervous to start classes.
-
Intermediate mat classes are a mix of classical and contemporary exercises taught on the mat, using small equipment.
Mat classes are a great way to understand the repertoire & pilates principles of pilates without the support of the Reformer. Mat exercises teach your body to move in a different way and gain a deeper understanding and increase your strength.
Suitable for beginners who have attended 10+ beginners classes and are comfortable with the exercises. More challenging variations are provided during class for those who want to increase the intensity.
Ask your regular beginners teachers if you can attend an intermediate class if you want to confirm you are ready for the next stage.
We recommend that all of our reformer clients try out mat classes, and attend on a regular basis as they can allow you to enhance & progress your reformer practice with fine tuning that sometimes isn’t possible on a reformer.
